Dances of Universal Peace

contact Yarrow Nelson to be added to our email announcement list:

The Dances of Universal Peace have been opening hearts all around the world in a beautiful way since their creation by Murshid Samuel Lewis in the 1960’s in San Francisco. The songs and dance steps are simple and spiritual, and taught by the dance leader, so no previous experience is necessary. We meet generally the second Saturday, currently at the San Luis Obispo Library community room downtown. The starting time is 7:30 and the fee is by donation. Yarrow Nelson is the backbone of these Dances and I am blessed to lead at least one song a gathering. 2015 Fall/ Winter Dates: Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 7, and Dec. 12. Start time: 7:30

I can be seen leading a Dance here at the annual “Winter Quarterly” at Circle V Ranch near Lake Cachuma, CA, which happens every Martin Luther King weekend and here in 2014 leading a Dance I created, words I took from Paramahamsa Yogananda and put to music.

The Winter Quarterly for 2016 will feature Tasnim Fernandez and will be held at Dancing Deer Farm in Templeton, CA, just north of San Luis Obispo. Here is Tasnim leading us last December at Sukha Wellness Center, Avila Beach. Tasnim3 Dec 2014

In March 2014 we had a special visiting guest Anahata Iradah, which sometimes happens, we bring in a special teachers from afar. Anahata

Peace Choir

We meet twice a month at a private home in Santa Margarita and sing simple spiritual songs from all denominations and ethnic roots. It is not necessary to be “able to sing well.” Opening the voice  opens the heart and connects us with community, creating a nurturing and safe atmosphere.

Dates: First and third Thursdays 7:30 to 9:30 (we generally break in the summer- July and August).
